Once again, a fascinating thought-provoking tidbit from Simon.
You know, maybe we should look harder at that 53% of jobs that cannot be robotised or automated. The percentage is suspiciously too precise, of course. But we all know of the many jobs, in human service, in the hospitality industry, in public transport, in education at all levels, in the "creative" industry,that will inevitably have to be done by people, not by automated technology. They all employ technology, of course. And many of those jobs are not only socially beneficial, they are interesting and challenging. Interestingly, a huge proportion of them are jobs that improve the quality of life for the whole population, or huge sectors of it. We all understand that most of the "growth" in recent years has come from the service sector, which is generally characterised as being poorly paid and socially at the low end.
